Welcome to the Front Lines of kidney advocacy

EKF is where strength meets support

built by Veterans, led by patients, driven by purpose.

The Enlisted Kidney Foundation (EKF) is a veteran-founded, patient-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization fighting for kidney patients across the country - especially those who are often forgotten by the system. From rescuing voices lost in red tape to empowering warriors with education and community, we’re on a mission to save lives through advocacy, awareness, and action.

SERVICES

☕Coffee & Conversations

A safe space for real talk.
EKF hosts 2x monthly peer-to-peer sessions where kidney warriors and caregivers come together to share experiences, ask questions, and build community. This isn’t your average support group — it’s where stories are heard, burdens are shared, and hope is renewed.

🎤Speaking Engagements

Turning lived experience into education.
Whether it’s a corporate health summit, patient panel, university class, or medical conference — EKF brings raw, real-life stories to the stage. Founder Dan Holmes delivers powerful talks on veteran health, kidney disease, toxic exposure, and resilience in the face of adversity.

🇺🇸Capitol Hill Advocacy

Fighting for change where it matters most.
EKF is committed to influencing legislation that protects and supports kidney patients, veterans, and minority communities. We work with lawmakers, testify at hearings, and partner with national organizations to make sure kidney warriors are not left behind.

WHO WE SERVE

🇺🇸 U.S. MILITARY VETERANS

We help veterans navigate the VA healthcare system, fight for what’s rightfully theirs, and provide critical support for those dealing with PTSD, toxic exposure, and the mental toll of chronic illness. EKF stands shoulder-to-shoulder with those who’ve served — because no warrior should battle kidney disease alone.

🏥 UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES

EKF reaches into communities often overlooked by the healthcare system — particularly Black and Brown neighborhoods — to raise kidney health awareness, provide resources, and ensure early detection is accessible and actionable.

❤️ PATIENTS & CAREGIVERS

From diagnosis to dialysis (and everything in between), we empower patients and caregivers with knowledge, tools, and emotional support to advocate for themselves and their loved ones. Whether it’s your first appointment or your hundredth, EKF helps you walk in with confidence.
