🇺🇸 Supporting Our Veterans

EKF stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the men and women who’ve served our nation.

We help veterans navigate the complex VA healthcare and benefits system, connecting their service-related toxic exposures to current health conditions — especially kidney disease — and guiding them under the expanded protections of the Honoring our PACT Act of 2022.

Our CEO’s lived experience with toxic exposure and rare kidney disease helped elevate patient voices in the national conversation around toxic exposure, contributing to the broader advocacy movement that led to the PACT Act and expanded recognition for affected veterans.

From disability claims preparation and VSO coordination to addressing PTSD, toxic exposure, and the emotional toll of chronic illness, EKF helps veterans navigate the system with clarity and confidence — because no warrior should battle kidney disease alone.

🌍 Reaching Every Community

EKF works to close the gaps in kidney health by reaching communities too often overlooked by the healthcare system — particularly Black and Brown communities disproportionately affected by kidney disease due to both systemic barriers and higher genetic risk factors.

Through grassroots outreach, culturally informed education, and early-awareness efforts, we bring trusted resources directly into the communities we serve. From sharing knowledge about genetic risks such as APOL1 to encouraging early screening and advocacy, we help turn awareness into action and prevention into empowerment.

Because real impact happens when people feel seen, informed, and supported — not filtered out.

💚 Impacting Patients & Caregivers

EKF turns lived experience into real-world impact for kidney patients and the families who support them.

In our first year alone, we’ve reached over 140,000 people, supported nearly 100 veterans, and conducted more than 100 one-on-one navigation sessions — connecting patients and caregivers to trusted resources and support.

Our work has earned national recognition, including the 2024 NephCure Impact Award and honors from the HopeWill Foundation. EKF’s patient voice has also contributed to national conversations around toxic exposure and kidney disease, including advocacy efforts surrounding the Honoring our PACT Act of 2022 and participation in patient-informed research such as Dr. Lawrence Beck’s Voice of the Patient initiatives.

As EKF grows, so does our ability to support more patients and caregivers with education, mentorship, and advocacy — ensuring they feel informed, represented, and never alone in their journey.

Because when patients and caregivers are supported, outcomes improve and hope grows.
