When Patrick first connected with EKF, he was receiving in-center dialysis and searching for a better path forward. Through FilterLIFE™ mentorship and navigation, Patrick received ongoing support as he worked with his care team to transition to home dialysis and prepare for transplant. EKF helped him share his story through the National Kidney Registry and as a guest on FilterLIFE™ Podcast Episode 9. Through Patrick’s hard work and determination, he ultimately received a kidney transplant and today, he is living on the other side of dialysis.

Living with a rare kidney disease and several complex health conditions, John came to EKF searching for understanding, connection, and emotional support. He found community through Coffee & Conversations and continued guidance through FilterLIFE™. EKF also connected John with a renal dietitian who provided personalized nutrition guidance based on his unique health needs. Today, John better understands his condition, has been found eligible for multiple clinical trials, and is moving forward with renewed hope, greater stability, and a clearer path toward remission.
FSGS Patient • Patient Advocate • EKF Volunteer
Known throughout the kidney community as “Kidney Man Dan,” Dan is an FSGS patient, advocate, EKF volunteer, and invaluable member of the FilterLIFE™ family. Long before EKF existed, Dan reached out to founder Dan Holmes during his own search for answers, sharing lived-experience knowledge that helped him better understand what was happening to his body. Dan also introduced EKF to NephCure and has remained beside the organization ever since—supporting patients, sharing knowledge, and showing what it truly means to leave no kidney warrior behind.
